
The threat to your business from spam

Although computer viruses can have a devastating effect on an organisation, it is the everyday onslaught of spam that might be costing your business more than you think. According to SoftScan’s statistics over 93% of all email messages it scanned in September were spam. Left unchecked spam can reduce productivity throughout an organisation.
The biggest and most insidious problem to businesses is the loss in productivity as users trawl their inbox deleting unwanted messages, deleting messages by mistake and even overlooking important emails because of all the junk that surrounds it.
Now consider the fact if 7% of email traffic entering your network is spam, you are paying for a lot of bandwidth that you do not actually need and possibly a lot of storage if you archive everything. In addition, once the email traffic is on the network it may slow down other mission critical systems such as sales and inventory, indirectly causing even more loss in productivity, not to mention the stress it’s putting on your IT department.
