A data back-up company is predicting a surge in sales of their software designed to keep tabs on employees email communications.
MailMeter software allows senior management to monitor employees in-coming and out-going email boxes and can archive data, protecting it from interference. “Our email management solutions and mail archiving are proving a big hit with organisations seeking to control their emailing systems, how it’s stored, how it’s being used and by whom” says Andrew Hookway – Managing Director of Haywards Heath based extech which supplies the software.
Recent media revelations have pointed up the value of secure corporate communications which can later be accessed for evidence and other purposes.
“News International saga underlines the importance of monitoring electronic communications – it’s vital where larger companies with a large turnover of staff to ensure data is not compromised when they leave” added Hookway
As well as providing enhanced search, retrieval restoration and security, MailMeter software can reduce storage space by up to 80% by de-duplicating attachments. The 75% compression ratio allows the disk space to be freed up potentially saving thousands of pounds on buying extra server space.
MailMeter is a recession-buster for SME’s”, says Hookway, who reports a healthy take up by local councils and hospitals for the software.
Working seamlessly with outlook, the software allows instance access of emails online or in the archive with files tagged and sourced using powerful search and grouping functions.
Storage of between ten and twelve years’ data is possible allowing management to track back easily.

IT services to the Gatwick Diamond region received a major boost this week (11 April) with the news that two of its leading providers have merged.
Billingshurst-based IT-net Solutions had been seeking a new stakeholder for the business following the move out of the sector by a major shareholder. The company
had been utilising databack systems know-how from IT managed solutions counterpart extech as an extension of their customer service so a merger proved a logical step forward.
Welcoming the move, IT-NET Solutions director and 50% shareholder Ken Horsley, said extech were “the obvious choice”. “This is a positive move for IT-NET Solutions, allowing it to provide additional benefits to our customers that we couldn’t do before. I am looking forward to integrating our systems with extech.”
Both companies specialise in fully managed IT solutions. However, offering the reassurance that no jobs would be shed in the merger, extech Managing Director Andrew Hookway said: “The company will keep all its current staff and will run as before with the added benefit of being looked after by a larger organisation with more services to offer its customers.”
Hookway added: “We will be able to enhance customer benefits by being able to deliver a fuller service, with more experienced engineers, a fully serviced helpdesk and a wealth of IT solutions.”
Customer service commitment proved a deciding factor in extech lifting the Best Small Business accolade at the 2011 Gatwick Diamond Business Awards, held last month.
